Holyhead, Wales – A powerful explosion on Monday morning at a local fish factory sent shockwaves through the surrounding area, startling residents and businesses in a nearby housing estate. The incident, traced back to a gas-powered forklift truck stored in a shipping container, left heavily damaged but miraculously resulted in no injuries.
The explosion, which occurred shortly after 9:15 AM, was caused by a gas leak from the forklift truck. The vehicle had been stored in the container over the weekend with its gas cylinder still connected. A leak developed, filling the enclosed space with flammable gas. At some point, a fire ignited the gas, triggering the blast.
The force of the explosion was so intense that it was felt by neighbouring businesses and residents, many of whom reported hearing a loud bang and feeling their windows and doors rattle. Emergency services, including firefighters, rushed to the scene.
One man, who was near the shipping container at the time of the explosion, walked away unharmed. His escape has been described as nothing short of miraculous.
“I heard this massive bang, and everything shook,” said a local business owner whose property is located near the factory. “We didn’t know what it was. It’s a relief no one was hurt.”
While the community is relieved that no one was harmed, residents and business owners remain shaken by the event. “It’s not something you expect to happen on a Monday morning,” one resident remarked. “We’re just grateful it wasn’t worse.”
